Vegas Invasion VI (VIVI), the largest nationwide Honda del Sol gathering, was held in Las Vegas from April 7 to 9. VIVI marked its sixth year with a record-breaking 54 del Sols, as Solers from 11 states came together to attend this event, representing their regions and their beloved rides.
This three-day celebration began on Friday, as Solers descended on Sin City. Driving together, many invaded in Sol Trains. The evening’s Meet and Greet party at Sazio, an Italian restaurant in the Orleans Hotel and Casino, officially signaled the start of VIVI, giving Solers the chance to break the ice and socialize.
VIVI culminated on Saturday, as owners rolled up with their Sols at the reserved section of the Bonanza Lounge parking lot. Starting at 11AM and continuing through the late afternoon, attendees shared advice, discussed modifications, checked out other Sols, and voted for the VIVI Awards. This year’s award categories were: Best Audio, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best Appearance, Best Sol, Honorable Mention, Distance, Dedicated, and THE Award, a new tribute commemorating the member who has significantly contributed to the del Sol community. Not excluding unmodified Sols, there was also an award for Best Stock Sol for the del Sol in the most pristine, dare we say, virginal condition. Winning this title with his 1995 del Sol VTEC, Christian Fritz, happily declared that “it was the stock head unit that did it.”
Along with the award ceremony, raffle drawings provided a chance for lucky winners to take home prizes that ranged from t-shirts to a $50 gift certificate to DynoJunkies.com. Finally, the evening’s Red Rock cruise let Solers take their cars from idle to drive!
Sunday signaled the close of this year’s Vegas Invasion with a Goodbye Breakfast at the Orleans’ French Market Buffet, during which Solers kept the Sol spirit shining by looking forward to VIVII!
Team Sol International would like to thank the supporters who made VIVI a success: participating members and Vegas Invasion planners, Team Sol Cal, AZ Sols, Team Sol Colorado, Team Sol MoKan, Team Sol Utah, RS Graphics, Dyno Junkies, and the Bonanza Lounge.
